Lugged Carbide Tools

Lugged Carbide Tools are precision cutting tools in which replaceable carbide tips (lugs) are mechanically fixed or brazed into a steel shank or tool body. Unlike brazed tools where the carbide is permanently attached, lugged carbide tools allow the carbide tips to be replaced once worn, without discarding the entire tool. This design provides excellent economy, flexibility, and long service life, making them suitable for heavy-duty machining applications such as turning, facing, grooving, and boring. They combine the toughness of a steel shank with the superior cutting performance of carbide inserts.

Key Features

  • Replaceable Carbide Lugs – Worn tips can be replaced without discarding the whole tool, saving costs.

  • Durable Steel Shank – Provides rigidity, toughness, and shock resistance during machining.

  • High Wear & Heat Resistance – Carbide lugs ensure excellent cutting performance and longer tool life.

  • Cost-Effective – More economical in the long run compared to brazed carbide tools.

  • Regrindable Tips – Carbide lugs can often be resharpened, further extending tool usability.

  • Versatile Applications – Ideal for turning, facing, boring, grooving, and heavy-duty operations.

  • Wide Material Range – Performs efficiently on steels, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and alloys.

  • CNC & Conventional Machine Use – Suitable for both modern CNC machining and traditional lathe operations.
